Dixon and Carephone might merge

The UK based companies Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse Group are in negotiations to merge. Here in Nordic Dixon are represented by Elkjop and Elgiganten and Carephone by Phonehouse. Combined these two companies would have around 3000 stores in Europe and has sales of approximately 130 billion SEK . Carephone Warehouse has around 2000 shops but only 40 billion SEK in sales where Dixon has 90 billion SEK in sales. The boards of Dixons and Carphone Warehouse have confirmed the negotiations but say it is preliminary discussions regarding a possible merger. Here in Sweden Elgiganten have around 75 larger stores and Phonehouse around 100 shops.
